Parent information for our preschool in Kincumber

Kinburra Preschool in Kincumber is recognised as meeting the National Quality Standards, for providing superior care and education for children 3 to 6 years. Our preschool is compliant with the National Quality Framework (NQF), which includes the National Quality Standard (NQS), as well as the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Regulations (Education and Care Services National Regulations).

We are also regulated by the new national body for early education and care, which is the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and the state licensing department of New South Wales.

MANAGEMENT

Our community-based preschool is managed by a volunteer ‘management committee’ formed by a group of parents, and the Director. We encourage parents to join and become either general committee members or part of our fundraising committee. We appreciate parents’ and families’ valuable input in the running of the preschool and the programs available. Our management committee is also responsible for organising and overseeing any fundraising events. The committee holds regular meetings and an annual AGM in February/March.

HOURS OF OPERATION

Our preschool is open from 8.00am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday and closed on weekends, school holidays and public holidays. We advise parents of dates of closure over these periods at the beginning of each term. We are licensed and funded by the NSW Government Education and Communities. Due to licensing regulations, we cannot provide a service to children outside of these hours, which is why we ask that no children are dropped off before 8.00am or picked up after 3.30pm.

LICENSED NUMBER OF PLACES

Kinburra Preschool is licensed to care for 40 children daily, between the ages of 3 and 6 years. We have 2 classrooms, the ‘Koala Room’ and the ‘Possum Room’, which are both equipped to cater for children of this age bracket.

ENROLMENT FEE & BOND PAYMENT

  • An enrolment fee is charged upon confirmation of enrolment. This fee must be paid prior to commencement at the service.
  • A bond consisting of 2 weeks’ full fee is to be paid in order to hold a child’s position at the service.
  • The bond payment will be refunded back to families when the child leaves the service and the fees are paid in full.

GENERAL FEES/PAYMENT

  • Fees are charged daily and vary depending on the family’s individual circumstances.
  • Fees must be kept two weeks in advance of a child’s attendance at all times.
  • Fees are to be paid fortnightly through a direct debit system. If families wish to pay fees on a weekly or monthly basis, it is a requirement that the family pay in advance and are not in arrears. Families can pay for the term upfront if they wish.
  • Fees are payable in advance for every day that a child is enrolled at the service. This includes sick days and family holidays but excludes periods when the service is closed.
  • Fees are charged at full days only (no matter what the attendance hours are).

SERVICE CLOSING TIME & LATE FEES

It’s important that you are aware our program closes at 3:30pm. Because of the National Regulations and licensing standards, we are not allowed to have children in our childcare service after 3:30pm. Due to these regulations, a late fee is incurred for children who are collected after 3:30pm.

The late fee we charge for children is $15 per child for every 15 minutes, or part thereof, which is added to your next account. We strictly adhere to the late fee as two staff members are required to remain at the program until all of the children have been collected for the day.

If we are unable to contact either the parent or a person nominated by the parent on the enrolment form to arrange collection of the child/children within an hour of the service closing, then we will contact Department of Education and Communities and the Police to take responsibility of your child.

ENROLMENT INFORMATION

Before commencement of our service, it’s a prerequisite to complete all enrolment documentation, as well as pay the bond and administration fee.

It’s vitally important that we have up-to-date information, in case of an emergency. If there are any changes to this information it’s crucial that you notify the Nominated Supervisor (or Responsible Person) of any changes to enrolment such as:

  • Address
  • Health
  • Telephone/mobile numbers
  • Contact details
  • Family changes
  • Emergency contact information details etc.

As part of the enrolment process it’s essential that we have copies of your child’s birth certificate and immunisation status. All children are required to be immunised. We’re also legally required to have certified copies of any court orders relating to your child.

CONFIDENTIALITY

We are committed to protecting you and your child’s privacy. Our preschool supports and is bound by privacy laws which ensures strict confidentiality is maintained.

Before we can plan programs for your child we need to collect information from you. This information enables our educators to be able to assess and plan programs in partnership with you. Our staff won’t disclose personal information about you or your child to any internal or external party or organisation without your consent, unless we’re required to do so by law. As part of our confidentiality regulations we won’t ask for personal information about you or your child from other professionals or organisations without your consent. It is within your rights as a parent to look at the information in your child’s file at any time or request a copy of information in the file.

SERVICE POLICIES & PROCEDURES

There’s a copy of our service policies and procedures available in each room and office. At our preschool we expect staff and families to adhere to our policies and procedures at all times, ensuring we maintain compliance standards and abide by the National Law and Regulations.

Our educators cannot make exceptions for individuals, unless this has been agreed to by the Nominated Supervisor or Management due to serious and/or unusual circumstances arising.

For the benefit of staff, families and the children enrolled at our preschool we’re constantly reviewing our policies and procedures. We ask for staff and family participation to ensure our policies and procedures adhere to every family’s needs and meet all required regulations. Through your involvement we can help to improve our service and if necessary change our policies and procedures to achieve this goal.
